Stop at Tom Sawyer’s RV Park on the banks of the Mississippi River. The campground also served as a convenient base for exploring Memphis.
If possible, reserve one of the riverfront sites overlooking the water. After setting up camp, spend the evening relaxing and watching tug boats navigate the Mississippi, which turned out to be one of the more peaceful stops of the trip.

Spend the day walking around Memphis and visiting several of the city’s iconic landmarks.
First stop, the famous duck walk at The Peabody Memphis, a long-standing Memphis tradition that attracts visitors every day. From there, explored Beale Street and stop for lunch at B.B. King's Blues Club. In the afternoon, visit the National Civil Rights Museum. Finish the day with a tour of Sun Studio, learning about the history of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many other musicians who recorded there.

Campground: Lake Barkley Area, Kentucky
After leaving Memphis, continue east toward Lake Barkley for a few slower-paced days before heading home.
After weeks of early mornings, hiking, long drives, and national parks, Lake Barkley provides a chance to unwind and relax. spend several days fishing, enjoying time around the water, and exploring Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
The quieter pace and scenic lake country makes it a nice transition between the adventure-filled western portion of the trip and the final stretch home.
