Indiana Dunes National Park
Indiana Dunes National Park
Indiana Dunes National Park sits along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, about an hour from Chicago. It is a unique mix of dunes, wetlands, forests, and prairies. It is not the dramatic, postcard-style scenery you find in some national parks, but has a style all it is on. The landscape shares space with nearby industry and a state park. There is plenty to do whether you want to hike, bird watch, or relax by the lake. The park ranks number 37 of the most visited parks.

Century of Progress Homes Pink House
These houses line the shore of Lake Michigan, and you can drive by or stop to take a closer look. They’re actual people’s homes, so no tours inside.
Mount Baldy Beach Trail
We started our day with an early morning hike on the Great Marsh trail. This trail is minutes away from Dunewood campground. Mount Baldy Beach trail is a short hike over a moving sand dune (several feet a year).

Epic Sunset over Chicago
Don’t miss a Chicago sunset while you’re there! There are a few small parking lots along the shoreline, so pack a dinner and get there early to snag a spot. The lots fill up quickly, but it’s worth it for the view.
